Legends of Tennessee offers an exciting, interactive educational program for Knox County
elementary schools called Reading Champions, which is sponsored by South College.

This program is designed to create lifelong learners by teaching students about the importance of
reading. University of Tennessee athletes will join a classroom each week to facilitate a 90-minute
program that includes instruction, a chat about the importance of reading and lunch.

Reading Champions is funded by program partner South College.
Literacy and reading comprehension skills are critical for educational development, so Legends of
Tennessee is stepping in to lead by example and encourage children to read regularly while
emphasizing the importance of reading for a successful life.
